Without TOTAL USER ADOPTION you have an expensive mistake. You really don’t want users to learn about the new application, you want them to get on with business (that is, adopt the tool).

Training prior to use is frustrating and costly (considering the lost productivity and that only 30% of the training can be recalled after 2 weeks!). Get rid of training! Don’t we all hate training because it’s so unproductive but we can’t find an alternative?

Immediate productive work performance should the target not “application knowledge”. The latter should be a free by product of immediatel productive use (adoption)of the new CRM installation.

You can make users successful from day one without training. You can do this by building in an intelligent “performance support” layer that interactively guides users through business processes as they complete real work. It also enforces business rules!

Sound too good to be true? See a Flash small video example here: http://www.rocketools.com/video/SalesforceDataInput.htm

Would anyone be able to help me with my research on CRM and e-CRM tools for the Institute of Direct Marketing’s Marketing Guide? This will update my existing research from 2002 and subsequent years, and assist me in gaining some independent commentary on how marketers can find the right tool for them. What tools are out there on the market? What are the trends and so on?

If you can please contact me at +44 20 8661 8965 or on Skype. My Skype name is: gajarvis. You are also welcome to leave comments about CRM tools on my own blog too.

Meanwhile, I recommend ‘Picking the Right CRM - CRM Blog’. It looks like a great resource for those seeking to not just talk about CRM, but also to understand it before they implement any particular CRM system.
